Strike them as
carefully as you will, these matches will only
produce smoke – But there’s lots of
that!
Waterglass again!
Soak the head of safety
matches in sodium silicate and let them
dry for several hours. Matches treated in
this way will splatter and smoke
when struck on the box.
You
may say it’s impossible to stroke the same match
twice, and make it flame both times. But
that’s exactly what your friends will
think you’re able to do when you’ve learned
this secret!
1) They’ll
see you take a used match from an ashtray, and

2) Strike
another light from it!
Take a few unused matches and shave
a little wood off near the heads.
5) Now
dip the heads in black RADIUM LEATHER
DYE (from Walmart).
This dries
quickly and leave you with matches that look dead
but which will strike and burn brightly. These are
the “burnt” matches which you have planted in the
ashtray.
Magic Secret #10 The
Anti-Gravity
Matches
Although you turn the tray of a
full box of matches upside down, the matches don’t
fall out until you say the MAGIC WORD!
WHY?
Because, although you can
open the box and show the matches, the box has
been faked by wedging a broken match across the
box. Thus, when you take out the tray, upside
down, the matches won’t fall out until –
...
you squeeze the ends of the tray. Then
the matches will fall – and the broken, short
match is hidden among them as it falls with
them!
In one of these three match boxes
(you tell your audience you keep a tame
GHOST!
He is able to
jump invisibly from box to box, and nobody can
track him to his resting place. To prove it, you
demonstrate that one box, and only one box
rattles. That’s where the ghost is –
now!
But after
you’ve mixed the boxes, nobody can find the one
that rattles – the ghost has moved to another
box! You can repeat this little trick
indefinitely – but please don’t!
1) Glue a strip
of coarse sandpaper to a 3” strip
of cardboard which is folded across the
middle –

Lay a match on the sandpaper and fold cardboard
over it.
3) Pass a safety
pin through the fold and

Slip a thin rubber board over the ends of the
folded strip.

pin the striker inside your coat pocket and

6) PRESTO! You have only to pull out the
match to produce it blazing merrily!
Magic Secret
#13 Sweet — and
